Strange Obsession

A couple of weeks ago, Myla kept pointing to the window seat in our house and making the sign for "cheese" (hands flat and rubbed together). I couldn't figure out why she was talking about cheese--had she hidden some under the cushion? This seemed all too likely. But nope, no stinky cheese.

It turns out she was pointing to some lotion in the window, and wanting some on her hands to rub together. Now, she is constantly asking us to put a little drop on her hand. At first she just giggles, and then eventually rubs it in like she knows exactly what she's doing. This fascination has carried over to soap and hand sanitizer--she loves to put soap on her hands and wash them in the sink.

She has the softest, cleanest hands I've ever seen, which is a good thing this flu season!

Technical Difficulties

Hey readers--I know I promised a lot of videos and pictures this week, but my laptop is down. I'll try to get something up soon. In the meantime, here's a little Myla anecdote.

Last Wednesday, we all went out to dinner after picking Myla up from day care. We noticed that she kept holding her nose, which we had never seen her do before. We couldn't figure it out, until I realized that they had learned about skunks in day care that day! It's really cool (and maybe a little scary!) to see her learning things in the world outside of our home.

She's a shoe girl!

Here are a couple of shoe-themed videos. As some of you know, Myla l-o-v-e-s to try to put her shoes and socks on. It can keep her busy for 15 minutes.

And here she is having fun in mine! This also makes her seem like she's getting so big so fast.

Rocking

Myla seems like such a big girl in this video for some reason. It's something about how she climbs in the chair and knows what to do.

(Please ignore my annoying voice).

Early steps

This video is from late September, when Myla had been walking for a little over a month. She was pretty good at this point, but it was still a new trick to show off at Grandma and Grandpa's.

20,000 hits and 200 posts!

Sometime last night our blog counter rolled past the 20,000 mark! And coincidentally, this marks our 200th blog post. We are so happy with how well this blog has worked as both a means of communicating with all of you and as a record of Myla's life. Thanks to all of you who keep coming back, giving us a reason to keep going!

To celebrate, we'll be posting lots of videos and pictures in the coming week or two. Here's a little dance party to kick things off!

Peek-a-boo!

Mom took these great pictures at the zoo playground when she and Dad visited us a few weeks ago. I think these are some framers!

Saturday Night!!!!

Kasey left Myla and I on our own this weekend. Let's just say things got crazy around here. The cops came twice, one of Kasey's vases got broken, and I woke up on Sunday morning with a headache and a new tattoo.

The night started off pretty tame as Myla and I had a nice tea party with a few of her friends. From the looks of Myla, maybe it isn't just tea in that pot....

After the tea party, it was time for dance party!!! Myla wanted to dedicate the song to her Uncle David. She gets her dance moves from her dad and her fashion sense from her mommy!

We're moving!

We still have a few minor inspections and the appraisal to go, but barring anything unexpected--we're moving! As much as we adore our current house, we were running out of room for toddling Myla. And her stuff. And her non-existent-but-hopefully-someday little bro/sis.

If you're interested in seeing some pictures of the new house, click on the photo below to go to a slide show. And if you know someone who might want to buy our old house, send them to this link! We promise to find a way to show our gratitude if you help us sell our house!

15 Months Photos

Let's wrap up this unprecedented posting marathon the way it began . . . with a monthly photo shoot. Of course, we've almost managed to make it to the 16-month mark, so hopefully those pics won't be too far behind!

Right before the 15-month shoot (which took place on the day of ND's first home game), Myla managed to dump a cup of water on herself. Ergo the wet hair and shirt. But I do like that we captured her walking, which was still a pretty new trick at that time! Thanks to David and Kelly for being my assistants on this shoot!

First Day of School

At the end of August, Myla started going to day care a couple days a week. We thought she would enjoy the new environment and the chance to be around other kids. She seems to love it, and she gets to make messes there that I'm too uptight to let her make at home. My friends Jen and Mandy tried to warn me about how dirty she'd be at the end of the day, but I still wasn't prepared! Here are the before and after shots of her first day:

Before, looking so stylish in her mod tunic and leggings.

After: That's applesauce all over her clothes . . .
. . . and in her hair! So pretty! But at least this day she came home with her own barrette instead of someone else's!
