Myla had a pretty wide gash above her right eye that clearly required stitches so with nothing better to do on a Tuesday afternoon the entire family ventured to the St. Joseph Hospital ER! This week has been really busy and rough for Kasey and I so why not add one more thing! Now, I have been to the ER several times so it wasn't that big of a deal for me. On the other hand, Kasey, in her 31 years had never been to the ER. Hard to imagine, but I guess she just didn't play hard enough as a little kid! Or maybe she was just a better walker than our daughter. So not only did we have to try to keep Myla's emotions in check during the ordeal, but I also had to keep an eye on Kasey as she kept touching all the shiny instruments and asking "what's that?"
I'll save you all the long details, but suffice to say that Kasey and I had another first lesson as parents as we had to watch our helpless and confused daughter get stitched up by the doctor. I think Myla may have handled it better than us as she bounced back like a champ and was her usual bubbly self as long as the doctor and nurse weren't anywhere near her. The silver lining was that we got to take Myla for ice cream on the way home and that helped her quickly forget about the entire thing. I can remember my parents buying me a little toy or giving me a special treat when I wasn't feeling well so it was fun to do that for our daughter. Amazing what a little peach ice cream from Ritter's will do to help make you feel better!
An of course, I took several pictures to capture the whole experience. Enjoy!
Myla has a "sticker" on her head and poses for the camera. She was in decent spirits at this point.
The little smock with tigers on it was cracking us up. Myla loved it. I very seriously considered taking it home with us but decided against it.
This was right after the nurse put the numbing gel on her wound but before the stitches were put in. It was either that or shots. We decided to wait the 30 minutes for the numbing gel to kick in. Myla didn't like it so much. We couldn't stop laughing at the bandage on her head.
You can see how upset Myla was at this point. I think we know who her favorite Cat is!

Poor baby! I am glad she's okay. I bet it was harder on you , Kasey, than it was on Myla!
Awww, the pictures are so pathetic - How sad to see those :(
I'm so happy to know that she was such a champ and got through it. I'll definitely call on the advice of her and her mommy and daddy if we have to take a trip to the ER. Kisses to sweet Myla!
We can say she looks cute with her head wrapped, because we know she is ok. The first trip to the ER is always the worst and hopefully there won't be many. Ice cream cures many things, along with kisses and hugs! Hope she feels better soon!!!!!! Love to all!
Oh my! Poor lil peanut. Looks like she was super brave!
