Here's a slide show of Luke's first week. It's a bit long (88 photos), so I hope you have a high tolerance for cute! (Click to expand.)

Luke's Hospital Photo

Luke's hospital photo can be seen here. I think they turned out really well--though in the first one, it looks like he's throwing up a gang sign!

Week Before

I'm working on a slide show and other posts to update you on Luke's first week. In the meantime, here are a few pics from our last week as a family of three!

Monday was my birthday, and Matthew and Myla did a lot to make it special. First, they made my favorite dessert, Hershey Pie.

So pregnant!

That night, we went to play putt-putt. Before we left, we took this family photo:

Finally, Wednesday was our nanny Holly's last day with Myla before she moves to Muncie to start school at Ball State. We'll miss Holly terribly, but wish her all the best with her new adventure!

Introducing Luke Janusz Blazejewski!

We are thrilled to welcome Luke Janusz Blazejewski to our family! He was born Sunday, August 22nd, at 2:40 p.m. He is 21 inches long, and a reported 7 lb., 13 oz.--though there is some controversy about that (apparently the delivery room scale has been measuring incorrectly and he may actually be well over 8 lb--TBD!). The whole family is doing great. Check out some early photos below, and we'll have more in a slide show soon.

Material Girl

I couldn't resist getting Myla this shirt when I saw it at Target. She gets compliments on it every time she wears it. I do, however, have some advice--don't let your daughter wear a Madonna shirt to church (we were running late and didn't have time to go home and change). It's so much more embarassing when your daughter misbehaves in church if she's wearing a Madonna t-shirt.

Thirty-NINE weeks

By the way, don't let the previous post mislead you--I am currently thirty-nine weeks. Come out, Baby Brother, we want to meet you!

37-ish Weeks

Myla's special day also included some highlights for me--dinner at Stop Fifty for pizza (our favorite restaurant in all of Michiana) and ice cream for dessert at Oink's. We had to replicate this picture from when I was full term with Myla.

Myla's Special Day

A couple of weekends ago we decided to have a "special day" for Myla, since her time as an only child is running out. We took her to the Hesston Train Museum in LaPorte. Since she loves trains, we thought it would be perfect. Turns out, she loves them more in the abstract and was a little nervous about the real thing. It seemed to be the noise she didn't care for. Here are some shots from our first few minutes there:

We gave up on the moving trains for a while and spent some time on the caboose and other stationary cars. This warmed her up a bit.

Side note--as part of the special day, I painted Myla's toes for the first time. She loved it!

She eventually found the spot she really wanted to be--the train table in the gift shop!

We managed to get her on the 1/4 size train before we left.

Even though M.J. wasn't as enthusiastic about the trains as we thought she'd be, we still had a great time--I highly recommend this spot for any train enthusiast! And we still got what we wanted out of the trip, which was a lot of good time spent together. Maybe next year we'll take both kids, and a braver Myla will show Baby Brother the ropes!

Ready for Occupancy!

We've finally put all the finishing touches on Baby Brother's room, so check it out! I'm really thrilled with how it turned out. The walls are light gray, though you can't see that too well in the photos.

Here are some of my favorite details--the orange bookshelf (check out the rocket lava lamp) and the decals over the crib.
Look for more posts soon to help pass the time while we wait for Baby Brother to arrive!

38 weeks

Two more weeks until the expected arrival date of Baby Brother! Of course that means it's really any day now (or it could be another month, right Kelly?). I think we're finally to the point where we feel ready, and I've even gotten to a place at work where I could leave things if need be. Myla is also getting excited, and talks about Baby Brother all the time. She gives him the sweetest hugs!

I'm feeling pretty good most days, although I have diagnosed myself with a bruised/cracked rib thanks to BB's forceful movements. At least that's the story I'll go with when I need to lay a guilt trip on him as a teenager. Or I'll tell him about how I had to give up chocolate because it gave me such bad heartburn--that's actually worse than the rib thing. :)

Goodbye, old friend!

About a month ago, Myla gave up her paci for good (she had been using it for naps and bedtime). It's been a bit up and down, but I think we're out of the woods and paci-free! As with many of these "big girl" transistions, there's a part of us that is sad to see another baby thing go . . . Matthew was a little attached to the paci himself and took a few last photos of our girl with it.
