"One two three, four five six . . . "

I've been seeing these Alec Baldwin commercials for www.hulu.com, but hadn't checked it out. The promise of being able to watch entire episodes of current TV shows for free seemed too dangerous. But this morning, I heard a reference on NPR to the website's Sesame Street channel. The "Animation and Shorts" section is pure gold. Remember how to make crayons? "A loaf of bread, a container of milk, and a stick of butter?" How about this classic?

Birthday Post for Aunt Kelly

Congrats Coach "Pop"!

Congratulations to my dad and Myla's Pop, who has been named one of eight nationwide finalists for the National High School Athletic Coaches Association girls' basketball Coach of the Year! According to the NHSACA's website, the awards recognize coaches "not just for a season of coaching, but for their 'lifetime achievements.' The NHSACA Coach of the Year awards are the most prestigious awards given to high school coaches in America." You can click here to see his name, or to check out the competition (as my bro-in-law David plans to do).

Also, his current Lady Bruins team was recently ranked #23 in the state of Kentucky. With this designation, every one of his nineteen girls' basketball teams in Central Hardin's history has been ranked at some point in the season! We're all proud of you, Dad, and I'm proud to be a former Lady Bruin (okay, I was a manager, but I kept a mean stat sheet).

At left, Kelly and I pose with Dad, who was also our assistant softball coach. "Be good to your glove, and your glove will be good to you."

They should market these as baby cages

If you're keeping score, girls now outnumber boys at the Blazejewski house!

Earlier this month we went down to the NoKY to visit our new niece Megan, and her mom, dad, and sister Anna. We have some great photos of the newest addition to the family:

Megan is already a UK girl!

Megan and godfather-to-be Matthew

Our first picture of the three girls together. This is as good as it gets with three babies under 18 months!

Cousin Anna shows us why she's known as "Anna Banana."

Finally, Myla decides it's time to establish her position in the cousin pecking order and lands a right cross on Anna's jaw. "You may be older, but hair = strength!"

Congrats to Jennifer, Matt, and big sis Anna. We really enjoyed our visit!

Let us know when these eating pictures stop being cute and start being just gross

"I think I'll call him Seabiscuit!"

One of the fun things about visiting the Blazejewskis is that they've brought out a lot of the old toys that Matthew and his siblings used to play with when they were babies. This little horsey was apparently one of Matthew's favorites, and Myla seemed to like it as well.

Whoa!!!

Giddy-up!

Happy Valentine's Day Mom!

Since my mom is Nashville this weekend, my dad and I thought it would be fun to make a Valentine for mom and show her it on our webcam. Happy Valentine's Day Mom! We miss you! Disclaimer: This video isn't really that interesting to anyone but my mom. Feel free to watch it, but I pretty much just play with a piece of paper the whole time.

Feelin' Crafty

As I described in this post, lately I've been feeling the urge to make stuff. Before M.J. came along, I was experimenting with cookie making as a creative outlet. Because that takes hours of uninterrupted time, that's not really an option anymore. But I have done two big projects lately and wanted to share!

First, I made a stuffed-felt alphabet for Myla. It was a lot of work, but stitching and stuffing the letters was surprisingly relaxing and fun. I'm really happy with how they turned out. Once Myla has stopped chewing on every single thing she touches (hopefully by kindergarten?), I'll give them to her to play with. Until then, they'll be displayed in her room in this little curio cabinet.

The other project was my first go at decorating a cake with fondant. This takes a lot less time than the cookies, and was really easy. I made a cake to look like a baby in a bassinette for my new niece Megan, and was pretty pleased with my first attempt. Now if only I could find some fondant that tastes as good as it looks . . . if anyone has suggestions, let me know!

8 months photos--and more to come!

Here are some photos from our 8-months photo session. She's getting to be such a big girl! And that sign continues to be too much for her to resist for some reason.

We have lots of pictures to share from our recent trips to visit new cousin Megan, and from other events of the last several weeks. I'll shoot for a new post every weekday from now until next Friday!

Snow-freak of nature: UPDATE

We're experiencing record highs here this week (still below 60, nothing to get too happy about), so the snowman has met his demise. RIP, Snowman. If only the good die young, you must have had a heck of a life.

Snow-freak of nature

We had a pretty big snowfall here right after new year's, and at that time a few Notre Dame students built a snowman near my office building. I have walked past this snowman every day for the last four weeks, and he has hardly shrunk in size at all. He still has his stick arms. Any damage that has been done appears to have been caused by wind, not melting.

How did I manage to end up living somewhere where a snowman can survive for four weeks?!?

Giggle Time

I know that I have been neglecting my posting duties on this blog lately, and my lovely wife continues to remind me of this. I'll try to do a better job so that Kasey doesn't have to carry the torch for this site. Here's a little video I shot yesterday with Myla. Nothing all that exciting just a little taste of her cute little laugh. Enjoy!

Boo Steelers

Since this is a family-oriented site I'll keep it G-rated, but I'm sick to my stomach right now. Plenty of our readers are Bengals fans so you all know what I'm feeling tonight. If you're not a Bengals fan then you can likely figure out why I feel this way if I equate it to Notre Dame football. Imagine that after Ty Willingham left your team in shambles, he went to be the defensive coordinator for USC. Then pretend that someone for USC hit Brady Quinn his senior year and blew out his knee, ruining Notre Dame's chances at a national championship. Then imagine that USC won another national championship with Willingham leading the defense and the announcers kept talking about how great he is. Can you imagine how much you would hate USC? That's where Bengals fans are with the Steelers.

After going to a Super Bowl party for the 1st half of the game, we came home for the 2nd half. Kasey and I had no interest in watching the Steelers win another Super Bowl, so instead we watched a new episode of Big Love and I did some work. The only thing that made me happy tonight is that it is obvious that Myla shares our disdain for the Steelers as she cried in her bed for about 30 minutes tonight and she NEVER does that. I went upstairs, sang the Bengals fight song to her, promised her that Carson Palmer is 10 times the quarterback that Big Ben is (it's just that the Steelers have a defense and the Bengals have been looking for one since 1989), and she went back to sleep. That's my daughter.
